Rene Magritte


This piece is from the series of paintings called The Treachery of Images. Year 1928-1929.
Oil in Canvas. Its is an image of a pipe and in Frech, the text says "This is not a pipe". I think what he was trying to say is that even though this is a very realistic painting of a pipe it is still not a pipe, just an image of one. You caould not pick it up and stuff tobacco in it.

Surrealism

I think what the author is trying to say is that as humans, we have an overflowment of ideas and thoughts that affect our lives and the environment around us. It is up to us to turn these dreams into reality.

Here is another picture from the surrealism movement. I think what this painting is trying to say is that the whole world can be seen through the eyes if we really try, but there's always a darkness in the middle that blocks your true vision of the world.
