The Lovers

What I feel when I see this is that these two lovers are ignited by passion, but do not know each others true identites. It looks like from the painting that the two characters in this painting are not even looking at each other, which may symbolize that they don;t actually love each other. Since Magritte is a surrealist, I wouldn't be surprise if he wanted to throw off the audience by calling this piece "The Lovers", I think he wants to confuse the audience by calling it this even though I think the painting does not depict lovers. Knowing Magritte, he would probably laugh at my interpretation.
